About GHRS

The Guatemala Human Rights Society was born in 2021 from a simple belief: that young people could help shape a better future for our country. What began as small volunteer efforts quickly grew into projects that unite science, art, and service. We have painted community murals that honor Indigenous women and keep stories of resilience alive on city walls; organized seven dental and optical clinics with partners to bring free care and hygiene kits to hundreds of families; and built and deployed four volcano-monitoring devices that stand watch near Guatemala’s peaks, giving early warnings and peace of mind to nearby villages. We have also bridged languages — translating between Spanish, English, and Korean so that every parent fully understands the care their children receive. Each project is different, but the mission is the same: to turn human rights into daily action, and to show that a new generation is ready to imagine and build a safer, more dignified Guatemala.

Our Team.

GHRS is powered by students, teachers, and community partners who believe change begins with small, consistent action. We are translators, artists, builders, and volunteers — united by a commitment to protect human dignity and create a safer, more just Guatemala. From painting murals and leading clinics to designing volcano-monitoring devices, our team brings together different talents with one shared mission: turning human rights into everyday reality.
